Edoung-Biyo C'13 Agrees to Deal with NISA's Maryland Bobcats FC

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Maryland Bobcats Football Club, set to begin its first season in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA), has agreed to a professional contract with Samuel Edoung-Biyo C'13, who was a two-time All-Conference standout at the University of the South. The professional organization released the statement on Monday in a tweet

Edoung-Biyo was a four-year letterwinner with the Sewanee men's soccer program, playing from 2009-12 as a midfielder. Playing in 70 career matches on the pitch, he recorded 12 career goals and 29 career points.

In 2011, Edoung-Biyo was named to the Third Team of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference's (SCAC) All-Conference Team. However, in Sewanee's first year with the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) the following year, he garnered First Team status after posting 15 points on six goals and three assists.

After finishing his degree in International and Global Studies in 2013, he has also played professional soccer with the Rochester Rhinos under the United Soccer League in 2017.

The Maryland Bobcats Football Club was founded in 2009. Based in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland, it is a fully minority-owned club with a majority-minority roster. Bobcats FC has a "one family" mentality. From the youngest player to the most experienced, youth teams to First Team, players support, push and encourage each other to play the right way. Beyond soccer, Bobcats FC helps, inspires, gives back and supports the local community that supports, comes to games, and cheers them on. The club gives players opportunities that they wouldn't get somewhere else. They can play and just need a place to prove it.

The NISA approved the membership application of the club in October 2020. They are set to compete with the league this spring.

At the time of the release, the deal was pending approval from the NISA and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
