Box Score CONWAY, Ark. (Oct. 25, 2015) – Behind a powerful offensive display, the Sewanee field hockey team closed out the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) regular season with a dominate 5-1 win at rival Hendrix, Sunday, at Warrior Field.
The Tigers are now 10-4 overall and 4-3 in league action. The Warriors fell to 2-12 overall and 1-5 in SAA play.
Sewanee wasted little time getting on the board, as Virginia Barry ripped in an unassisted goal in the second minute.
Hendrix would briefly net the equalizer 18 minutes later when Morgan Fires scored off a corner from Bridget Umble and Raychl Reger.
The score remained tied at 1-1 until the 29th minute. Carrie Anderson pushed Sewanee back in front when she tipped in a rebound for her sixth goal this season.
In the second half, the Tigers rolled. Goals by Hannah Tompkins, Emma Horgan, and Anderson completed the score.
Overall, Sewanee finished with a 28-8 advantage in shots. That included 20 shots on goal. With that, Hendrix keeper Gabryele Pochron finished with 15 saves.
Barry led the attack with eight shots while Anderson finished with seven.
Sewanee will close out its regular season with an 11:00 a.m. match, Saturday, against Newberry.
