Box Score NEWBERRY, S.C. (Nov. 1, 2014) – The Sewanee field hockey team earned a 4-3 win in its season finale at Newberry, Saturday, at Setzler Field.
After Newberry got on the board first, Sewanee drew even when Carrie Anderson scored in the 24th minute.
The Tigers would then take a lead into halftime, when Emma Horgan netted an unassisted goal right before the break.
Newberry would tie the match at 2-2 early in the second half when Kaitlyn Willard scored for the 10th time this season.
However, over the next 20 minutes, Sewanee would respond. Anderson scored again when she tapped in a loose ball into the back of the cage two minutes later.
Sewanee then scored again when Anderson assisted on a shot by Virginia Barry, who then ripped a shot between the keeper's pads.
Sewanee outshot the host team, 15-9. The Tigers also held a 10-5 advantage in corner attempts.
With its regular season finished, Sewanee will now play in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament beginning next Friday.
