Emerson's goal not enough as Sewanee falls at Denison

Box Score

GRANVILLE, Ohio (Aug. 31, 2013) – Despite another goal by Ford Emerson, the Sewanee men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at Denison, Saturday, in Granville, Ohio.

For the second straight night, the Nashville, Tenn., native scored. After an early goal by the Big Red, Emerson got behind the defense after a long pass from teammate Jacob Zalewski. From there, the 6'2" junior fired his shot right underneath the crossbar to tie the match at 1-1.

Unfortunately, Denison scored two goals in the second half to earn the win.

Overall, the Big Red had more shots and corner kicks than the Tigers.

With that, Zalewski and freshman Holden Foster combined for 13 saves.

Offensively, Walker Ueland had three shot attempts while Emerson finished with two.

The Tigers will now look to improve on its 0-1-1 record, when Sewanee travels to regional-rival Covenant, Tuesday. That match is schedule to begin at 8:00 p.m. (EST).
