SAA Tournament Bracket

CONWAY, Ark. (Nov. 3, 2013) – An overtime goal by senior Karen Dawson helped the Sewanee field hockey team survive a late rally by Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Hendrix, Sunday, in overtime.

The Tigers pulled out the 4-3 victory when Dawson netted a shot off an assist from senior Mary Kate McAlister in the 82nd minute.

Early on sophomore Maggie Boozer scored two goals off assists from Tilden Davis. After a goal by Raychl Reger cut the lead to 2-1, Boozer scored again.

Unfortunately, the Warriors rallied late in the second half with two goals including the game-tying score with no time off the clock. On that play, Reger scored off a corner from Morgan Fires with time expired.

Overall, Sewanee outshot Hendrix 41-11. The Tigers also held a 25-9 advantage in corners.

Individually, Boozer finished with a career-high three goals and six points. Additionally, freshman Carrie Anderson added 12 shots while McAlister finished with 10 attempts.

With their regular season over, Sewanee will face rival Rhodes in the upcoming SAA Tournament. That match is scheduled to begin on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2:30 p.m. (EST) at Centre College in Danville, Ky.
