McDurmon and Robb lead Tigers at Sewanee/Berry Invitational

Men's Results - Women's Results

ROME, Ga. (Sept. 1, 2012) – The Sewanee men's and women's cross country teams opened their season with a number of impressive performances Saturday.

In the men's event, sophomore Hudson Robb led Sewanee with a 35th place finish. Robb finished the race in 28:01.93 for an average mile of 5:38.93.

Robb was followed by Jason Grimes, who finished 69th (29:58.09) after he set a pace of 6:01.80. Alec Hill (77th place), Amiel Emerson (81), and Tyler Wilcox (93) rounded out Sewanee's top-five finishers.

In the women's race, freshman Ansley McDurmon finished 36th in her first career event. The first-year runner averaged a 6:44.30 mile to finish the 6k course in 25:07.69.

McDurmon was followed by Cara Martin, who placed 45th with a time of 26:02.26, and Amy Lee, who crossed the finish line in 54th place (26:31.77).

NCAA Division I powerhouse Mississippi State claimed both team titles with a pair of dominate performances.
