SEWANEE, Tenn. 4/10/12 – Outstanding pitching performances by freshman
Charles Warren and sophomore
Austin Shea highlighted a 14-0 shutout win by the Sewanee Tigers over the Rust College Bearcats today at a wind-swept Montgomery Field in Sewanee.
The Bearcats could muster only four hits off Warren and Shea in the Tigers' seven-inning victory.
With the win the Tigers improve to 12-17 on the season.
Warren worked five innings, allowing no runs on four hits to earn his team-high third win of the season. Shea came on in relief of Warren in the sixth inning and retired all six Rust batters that he faced.
Alan Komorowski,
Wilson Nealy,
Jack Rogers and
Blake Williams all had two hits to lead Sewanee's thirteen-hit attack.
Komorowski, Rogers and
Allen Thigpen each drove in two runs. Thigpen's RBI came on a two-run homerun to right field in the Tigers' six-run sixth inning.
The Tigers and the Bearcats will meet again tomorrow at Montgomery Field at 1:00 pm.
