Men's/Women's
SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 5, 2012)
– Led by winner Ansley McDurman, the Sewanee
men's and women's cross country teams had a pair of
season-best performances at the annual Tiger Twilight Invitational
on The University of the South campus.
On the men's side, the Tigers finished second on the 7.2k
course. Led by sophomore Hudson Robb's second place
individual finish, Sewanee ended with an average time of
25:35.27.
Robb finished just off the pace set by winner Robert Willett
(Birmingham-Southern) with a time of 24:05.69. Senior teammate Clay
Bond also finished in the top-five with 24:34.89 mark
while Alec Hill (26:15.22) closed out the top-10.
In the women's race, Sewanee dominated with four of the
top-five finishers. Additionally, Sewanee ran away from the field
with seven runners inside the top-10.
Along with McDurmon's (19:33.46) top honor, the Tigers had
strong finishes from second-place medalist Amy Lee (19:47.71) and
fourth-place finisher Cara Martin (20:17.47). Additionally, Willow
Smith (20:24.49), Zoe Dubin (20:41.29), Cate Hargrove (21:05.16),
and Victoria Ports (21:05.69) all placed inside the top-10.
"Our teams competed great today in front of a huge group of
parents, family and friends,” said head coach Jeff
Heitzenrater. “Thanks to everyone who came out to support the
Tigers today. I am proud of both teams for competing very
well against conference competition. The hard work our team
has put in over the last few weeks is really starting to show in
great meet results.”
