Tigers top Hendrix, 3-1

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 27, 2012) – The Sewanee field hockey team earned a 3-1 Southern Athletic Association victory over visiting Hendrix, Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers took command quickly when Molly Kennedy converted a pass from Mallory Silver in the 16th minute.

In the second half, Sewanee kept attacking. A goal by Anne Book and an own-goal by Hendrix gave the Tigers a 3-0 advantage with 6:32 left.

The Warriors finally got on the board, when Maggie Despain scored with 4:29 to play.

Overall, both teams finished with 14 shots. Hendrix did manage to edge out the Tigers in penalty corners, 13-11.

Individually, goalkeeper Anna Morrow finished with five saves.

The Tigers will quickly return to action with a noon match against rival Rhodes, Sunday.
