SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Sewanee hosted Sweet Briar in a rain-soaked Division III field hockey matchup Sunday afternoon and the Tigers topped the visiting Vixens 5-1. Sewanee got out to a 5-0 lead before Sweet Briar scored its only goal in the 63rd minute.
In the first half,
Caroline Carlin (Gladwyne, Penn., Country Day) scored both of Sewanee's goals before
Molly Kennedy (Timonium, Md., Bryn Mawr),
Caitlin McNaughton (Middleburg, Va., Foxcroft) and Carlin added second half goals to get the five Sewanee goals for the day. Alexandra St. Pierre scored the Vixen goal in the 63rd minute to finish up the scoring for the day. Sewanee outshot Sweet Briar 25-3 and had 14 penalty corner opportunities compared to two for the Vixens.
Sewanee is now 3-2 and will host SCAC Foe DePauw Saturday for Family Weekend on the Mountain.
