LEXINGTON, Va. -- Sewanee wrapped up it's Fall Break trip to Virginia Tuesday and fell 3-0 in a DIII field hockey matchup at Washington and Lee. The Generals led 2-0 at the half.
W&L scored at eight and 20 minutes in the first period and added some insurance in the second with a goal at 52 minutes. Emily Detmer (Denver, Colo., Pomfret) played all 70 minutes in goal for Sewanee and recorded six saves. W&L outshot Sewanee 24-7 and took six penalty corners compared to four for Sewanee.
Sewanee is now 6-7 and 1-4 in the SCAC. The Tigers will play at hendrix and Rhodes in SCAC play this weekend. W&L is 8-6.
