SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Sewanee was at Sweet Briar on Friday for game two of a three-game fall break road trip and the Tigers shut out Sweet Briar College 4-0 after leading 1-0 at the half.
Sewanee's first half goal was on a
Lynn Hancock (Paris, Ky., Foxcroft) penalty stroke. Hancock has logged 12 goals so far this year and is currently second in the SCAC in goals scored.
In the second half, Hancock added one to her total and fellow senior
Claiborne Buckingham (Richmond, Va., Collegiate) scored two of her own, securing the 4-0 Sewanee edge. Goalkeeper
Clarkie Crawford (Louisville, Ky., Collegiate) earned her first ever shutout in goal. She faced six Sweet Briar saves and grabbed five saves of her own. Sewanee took 20 shots on the day.
The Tigers are now 7-6 and will play at Washington and Lee on Sunday.
