Matthew Daniels begins his eighth season as the Head Golf Professional and General Manager of The Course at Sewanee.
Daniels comes to Sewanee after severing as the General Manager/Head Golf Professional at The Bear Trace at Tims Ford State Park from 1999-2012.
At Bear Trace, Daniels managed sales of over eight hundred thousand dollars a year while supervising all policies and procedures. Additionally, Daniels gave over 200 hours of lessons per year, while hosting numerous amateur and junior amateur tournaments.
Prior to his time at Bear Trace, Daniels served as the Head Golf Professional at Memphis National Golf Club, the Co-Head Golf Professional at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark. Prior to that, Daniels was the Head Golf Professional at The Farms Golf Club in Dyersburg, Tenn.
Additionally, Daniels has assisted as a host and rules official at the 1999 U.S. Open qualifier.
A 1992 graduate of the University of Memphis, Daniels earned his Class “A” PGA of America license in 1998. Additionally, Daniels earned certification from the PGA Business School (1994), PGA Business School II (1996), and the Tennessee Turfgrass Association (2002).
Daniels and his wife Chelle have three children, Patrick, Sam and Ben.
