NEW MARKET, Ala. - Four Sewanee Tigers, three on the women's side and one on the men's side finished in the top 15 Saturday morning at the UAH Chargers Cross Country Invitational, hosted by The University of Alabama in Huntsville at Sharon Johnston Park.
Tricia Murphy, who came off winning the Sewanee Invitational last weekend on the mountain, placed 10th with a 20:29.49 time in the 5K race, missing her personal best of 20:46 set in October 2015 by three seconds.
Also inside the top 15 include Anne Chapman Hayes and Elizabeth Haberstroh. In her first 5K race of her collegiate career, the freshman, Hayes, finished 14th with a 21:06.73 finish. For Haberstroh, the senior recorded a 21:10.15 time for a 15th place finish.
Hannah Faulker finished 22nd out of 57 runners with a 21:51.82 mark, her second-best time in the 5K event.
Earning a personal best in the 5K is Adriana Hibarra. The junior slashed her previous record of 27:36.1 with a 22:54.04 time.
The Tigers finished third out of six teams with 73 points ahead of NCAA Division II opponents Alabama-Huntsville and West Alabama.
On the men's side, Owen Legrone missed his personal mark at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regionals by 24 seconds with a 27:24.20 time in the 8K race, finishing 10th out of 74 runners.
Ash Midyett finished 27th in the race with a 29:19.39 mark, while Jack Barganier's first career 8K finished with a 29:56.42.
Sewanee will travel to Austin Peay for the Cross Country Festival next Saturday.
