Volleyball’s Ellie Pedersen Named AVCA South Region Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) on Thursday, freshman middle blocker Ellie Pedersen has been selected as an Honorable Mention in the South Region.

The Franklin, Tenn. native finished the 2018 season with a league-leading .351 attack percentage and 184 kills, averaging 2.04 per set.

However, the Southern Athletic Association's Newcomer of the Year came alive in conference play. Despite being eighth in kills (127), she only committed 14 attacking errors en route to a .428 attack percentage, the best in the league. She also finished seventh in the SAA with 155.5 points thanks to assisting on 31 blocks.

Against the nation, Pedersen finished ranked 37th in all of Division III in attack percentage.

This is the second consecutive year that a Sewanee student-athlete has been selected to the All-Region Team. Pedersen joins Destiny Stewart, who was named to the team a year ago.
