SALEM, Va. - The Sewanee volleyball team extended their winning streak to six straight matches with wins over Averett and Bridgewater in the Roanoke Classic on Friday afternoon. The Tigers' 6-1 start is the third-best start in program history since 1991 through seven matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED, AVERETT
-In the first set, the Tigers dominated with a defensive attack percentage of -.089 (7-11-45), as the team cruised to a 25-14 set victory.
-The second set saw the Tigers commit just two errors on 38 total attacks for a .368 percentage. However, despite trailing 15-9 at one point, Averett went on an 11-4 run to take the lead, 20-19. Sewanee rebounded to score the final five points to take the second set.
-The third set began with the teams trading points back-and-forth. Trailing 11-10, the Tigers went on a 9-1 run to take a 19-12 lead.
-After Averett burned their final timeout of the set, trailing 22-16, the Cougars went on a 7-1 run to even the score at 23.
-Lilly Reilly recorded a kill to secure match point, but the opposition evened the score on a kill.
-The Tigers rallied, tied at 24, to win the next two points, both on Averett attack errors, to secure the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED, BRIDGEWATER
-In the first set, Bridgewater snapped Sewanee's 15-set winning streak with a 25-16 opening set victory thanks to a .361 attack percentage on 14 kills and one committed error.
-The Tigers came to life in the second set with a 25-21 victory with a .308 attack percentage and a match-best 16 kills.
-The third set saw the Eagles lead early, 6-3, but the Tigers rallied to tie the set at 16 before finishing the set on a 9-6 run to secure the match and the sweep of both opponents Friday.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Lilly Reilly finished the day with 32 kills and 26 digs, including 18 against Bridgewater for the freshman. Finishing with a double-double in both contests, she finished with a .388 attack percentage in two matches.
-Destiny Stewart also attributed a double-double in each contest on Friday with 11 kills in each match with 13 digs against the Cougars and 14 against the Eagles. The sophomore also tallied five service aces.
AVERETT KEY STATISTICS
-Jordan Pitzer led the Cougars with 12 kills and 13 digs.
BRIDGEWATER KEY STATISTICS
-Rachel Gaston posted 15 kills and 12 digs in the contest, while Taylor McNeely dug out 23 opposing attacks.
The Tigers wrap up play in Salem Saturday with host Roanoke and Ferrum.
