Destiny Stewart Earns Tiger of the Week Award

SEWANEE, Tenn. - Freshman outside hitter Destiny Stewart of Sewanee volleyball was selected as the Tiger of the Week following her performance at the Maroon Classic last weekend.

Stewart racked up 58 kills and a .341 hitting percentage (58-15-126) in Sewanee's 4-0 week up at Roanoke College, defeating Hollins and Ferrum on Friday before ending the weekend with wins over Methodist and Randolph.

In the match against Methodist on Saturday, the Alpharetta, Ga. native collected her first 20-kill match of her career with 21 along with 15 digs for her second double-double of the year.

Leading the Tigers to co-champions with Bridgewater in the Classic, Stewart was also selected as Co-Most Outstanding Player, joining Macon Frey of Bridgewater.

Stewart and the rest of the Tigers will open the home portion of the 2017 schedule on Wednesday when they host Covenant at Juhan Gymnasium. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
