Volleyball Falls Twice at McAttack Bash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Sewanee volleyball team suffer a sweep on the final day of the McAttack Bash at Birmingham-Southern College in the Bill Battle Coliseum, falling to Washington & Lee and Maryville in straight sets.

In the opener against W&L, the Tigers (0-3) were defeated by the Generals (3-1), 25-19, 25-15, 25-10.

Destiny Stewart led the Tigers with a double-double, 11 kills and digs each, with a solo block.

Peyton Parent tallied 13 digs, while Anna Wilson recorded nine assists.

In the final match of the tournament, Maryville (1-2), the Tigers held tough, but lost in straight sets to the Scots, 25-21, 27-25 and 25-20.

Stewart finished the contest with 10 more kills, finishing with 21 on the day. Parent finished the day with 30 digs thanks to 17 in the Maryville match.

Rebecca Rowan posted six hills, while Constance Connolly tallied 12 assists.

The Tigers will return to action next week at the Roanoke College Maroon Classic. The Purple and Gold will play four matches in two days, beginning with Hollins and Ferrum on Friday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively.
