Defense leads Hendrix to a 3-0 win over Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Oct. 24, 2015) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Regular Season Champion Hendrix earned a 3-0 win over the Sewanee volleyball team, Saturday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

The Tigers fall to 10-13 overall and 3-10 in SAA play. The league-leading Warriors are now 19-7 overall and 12-1 in SAA action.

Hendrix earned the victory with set wins at 25-9, 25-21, and 25-15.

The Warriors played well on defense. Hendrix limited Sewanee to a .067 attack percentage and finished with six blocks and a match-high 56 digs.

Individually, Lauren Petrisin led all players with 11 kills. Holyn Duyck added 11 assists while Allison Gaia finished with 17.

Senior Caroline Montgomery led Sewanee with a team-high eight kills. Walker Buxton pitched in 21 assists while Sara Jayne Sutton added 13 digs.

Additionally, Caroline Owens and Buxton added double-digit digs with 11 and 10, respectively.

Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 1:00 p.m. match, Sunday, against rival Rhodes.
