Day Victorious in Javelin at Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet

DELAWARE, Ohio - For the third time this season, senior thrower Karagan Day won the javelin event at the Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet on Thursday.

The Spring Branch, Texas native started with a 31.67-meter throw before improving to 33 meters on the second attempt. After falling 0.07 meters in her third throw, the senior bounced back to a 36.11-meter shot in her fourth attempt.

After the latest attempt, the senior cleared 38.15 meters in her fifth throw, good for third-best in her career, before finishing her attempts with a 36.19-meter throw.

Unable to hit her career-best throw of 40.62 meters set at the SAA Championships back in April, Day remains 27th nationally in the event.
