Records Fall as Tigers Conclude SAA Track and Field Championships

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee track and field teams wrapped up the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

WOMEN TOP PERFORMERS
-In the 200 meter dash, after running a 26.82-second performance in the preliminaries on Friday, Meredith Stuber improved her mark by 0.6 seconds for a new school record of 26.22 seconds, breaking Faith Spencer's 2012 mark of 26.39 seconds. The junior finished in fifth place in the finals.

-In the javelin, Karagan Day recorded three personal-best throws in her six attempts, finishing with a second place throw of 40.62 meters, a career-best for the senior. After competition today, she is ranked 13th nationally.

-In the 4x400 relay event, another school record fell as the quartet of Kelsie Schiavone, Elizabeth Shackelford, Tricia Murphy and Stuber ran to a third place finish with a 4:11.23, breaking the school record of 4:12.13 set in 1997.

MEN TOP PERFORMERS
-Ash Midyett recorded a career-best 1:55.44 in the 800 meters for a second place finish. Earning All-Conference in the event for the second straight year, the sophomore is seventh in the South/Southeast regional.

-In the 4x400 relay, Sewanee's Carter Pettus, Dillon Spann, Letherio Jones and Midyett ran a third place finish and season-best time of 3:25.84.
