ATLANTA - Announced by the Southern Athletic Association on Wednesday, Sewanee women's mid-distance runner Tricia Murphy has been named the SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week after her performances at the 'Southern Invitational last weekend.
In the 800 meters, the senior ran a personal-best 2:31.49, good for 12th place at the meet. She ranks fifth in the conference in the category and is 13th in the South/Southeast Region.
The Charlotte, N.C. native also ran the 1,500 meters over the weekend. She improved her personal mark by three seconds with a 5:09.01 time in the event, good for eighth place. She improves to 13th regionally in the event and is sixth in the SAA.
Murphy and the rest of the Tigers will next compete at the Emory Invitational on March 30-31.
