No. 12 Women’s Tennis Falls to No. 11 Carnegie Mellon in ITA Indoors Consolation Match

NASHVILLE - The 12th-ranked Sewanee women's tennis team battled with No. 11 Carnegie Mellon in the second round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Indoor National Championships from the Adams Tennis Center in Murfreesboro.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-CMU did take two of three doubles, but the No. 1 flight was a memorable one. Coming off a late night for the Tartans in their quarterfinal match, Catherine Owen and Ellie Czura downed the No. 2 doubles team in all of NCAA Division III with an 8-5 win over Danna Taylor/Melissa Strome.

-In singles, Owen battled with No. 6 Taylor at the No. 1. Taylor would have to rally against the sophomore to win in three sets.

-Meanwhile, at the No. 2 flight, Czura took down No. 22 Jamie Vizelman, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

-Flights four and five went into a tie break, including a battle with No. 46 Beata Liberchuk and Haley Tucker.
