SEWANEE, Tenn. (May 10, 2017) – Sewanee women's tennis student-athlete Clementina Davila earned a bid into the NCAA Singles Championships the NCAA released, Wednesday.
This is second straight season Davila will compete at the national event. A year ago, Davila earned All-American honors with former Tiger doubles partner Lindsey Liles.
For the individual championships, the national committee selected seven singles players and three doubles teams from each of the four regions. The individual championships will consist of 32 singles players. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships is based on win-loss record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.
The team championship will take place May 22-24, and the individual championships May 25-27, both at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee and will be hosted by the University of the South and the Chattanooga Sports Commission.
In her third season, Davila was ranked both as a singles player and a doubles competitor in the regional rankings. She finished with a 10-5 mark in singles and went 12-5 in doubles.
During the season, Davila played at No. 1 singles and doubles. She had impressive wins over No. 9 Ikioka of Redlands and No. 11 Brogan of Mary Washington.
