ATLANTA (May 4, 2017) – Led by Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Newcomer of the Year Ellie Czura, the five-time regular season and tournament champion Tigers had six student-athletes named all-conference Thursday.
Junior Clementina Davila was named to the All-SAA First Team while Czura and Christina Merchant were named All-SAA Second Team selections. Additionally, Maggie Crumbliss, Darby Duval, and Haley Tucker were selected as All-SAA Honorable Mention honorees.
In her third season, Davila was ranked both as a singles player and a doubles competitor in the regional rankings. She finished with a 10-5 mark in singles and went 12-5 in doubles. During the season, Davila played at No. 1 singles and doubles. She had impressive wins over No. 9 Ikioka of Redlands and No. 11 Brogan of Mary Washington.
Czura earned her honors after going 13-4 in doubles and 10-6 in singles. The No. 12 regionally-ranked Atlantic South went unbeaten in conference doubles matches and had only one loss in SAA play at No. 2 singles.
In her junior campaign, Merchant finished 10-5 in singles and 13-4 in doubles. She is currently ranked 20th in the region as an individual. Overall, she dominated conference matches going undefeated in doubles and had only one loss in singles.
Despite having an injury that cut into her playing time, Crumbliss finished undefeated in conference action. Overall, she posted an 11-1 record this spring with her lone loss in singles coming after she had to retire due to an injury.
Along with Crumbliss, Duval finished unbeaten in SAA singles' matches. She lost only one doubles conference contest while going 12-5 overall. Her overall record in singles was 16-4.
Finally, Tucker is currently 12-3 in singles this spring. The Flowery Branch, Ga., native finished unbeaten in SAA singles matches while losing only one doubles contest at No. 1.
