Duval, Czura, and Crumbliss all earn wins against No. 11 Amherst

MALIBU, Calif. (March 17, 2017) – Despite three singles wins, the No. 14 Sewanee women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 6-3 loss against No. 11 Amherst.

Sewanee is now 5-3 overall with all three losses coming against top ITA ranked programs.

After falling in all three doubles matches, Sewanee won three individual matches.

Freshman Ellie Czura continued her great season with a 6-1, 6-3 straight set win over Anya Ivenitsky at No. 3. Maggie Crumbliss also won in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Camilla Trapness.

At No. 4, freshman Darby Duval showed her talent with an impressive 6-4, 6-2 win over Megan Adamo at No. 5.

Amherst won at No. 1, No. 2, and No. 6 singles. On court one, No. 34 Camille Smukler rallied after falling in the first set to Clementina Davila for a 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 win.

Sewanee returns to action against Redlands, Saturday.
