Tigers close out USTA/ITA South Regional with a number of semifinalists

SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2013) – The Sewanee women's tennis team closed out its fall season with a number of student-athletes earning berths in the USTA/ITA South Regional semifinals, Saturday.

Below is a breakdown of each draw.

Main Draw Singles

Sophomore Lindsey Liles opened the third round with a strong 7-6, 6-1 victory over Danielle Truitt of Emory.

At the same time, classmate Annie Veron earned a victory against Michelle Demeo of Emory.

Unfortunately, both Liles and Veron dropped their quarterfinal matches against Michelle Satterfield and Madison Gordon of Emory.

South Draw Singles

Emily Sirbaugh lost her semifinal match against Tricia Glover of Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Oglethorpe 6-3, 6-3.

Main Draw Doubles

After winning two matches Friday, the Tiger team of Liles and Veron earned a bid into semifinals with an 8-4 victory over Emory's Harris and Demeo. 

Unfortunately, Liles and Veron fell just short of the finals when Emory's Kelly and Goodman earned an 8-2 victory.

B Draw Doubles

Johnston and Reeves won their quarterfinal match against Geving and Dunlap of Covenant College, 8-2.

Later in the day, the Tiger team fell just of the draw championship as Hyatt and Carter of Covenant College outlast the Tiger duo, 8-5.
