Women’s Soccer Drops SAA Opener

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Sewanee women's soccer team were defeated by the Vikings of Berry College Friday night, 4-1 in the SAA opener for both teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Vikings got off to a quick start, leading 2-0 at the midway point of the first half before taking a 3-0 lead to the locker room.

-Berry added a 47th-minute goal to make it 4-0, but Sewanee spoiled the clean sheet with a Carter Cooper goal off a Dayla LaRocque pass for her first goal of the year.

-The home team held Sewanee to just three shots, including not allowing a shot in the first 66-plus minutes when they scored.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Carter Cooper, Dayla LaRocque and Sarah McKinnon each took a shot for the Tigers.

-Abigail Frazier (0-2) saved one shot in full time.

BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Olivia Nye netted two goals to lead the Vikings.

-Alyssa Stevens (4-1) allowed the lone goal in full time for the win.
