ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) announced Tuesday afternoon that sophomore Samantha Bourgeois was tabbed the SAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week following her efforts in goal this past weekend at the Meredith Classic in Raleigh, N.C.
The New Orleans, La. native tallied 18 saves in 200 minutes of action, with one clean sheet last week at the Meredith Classic at Meredith College. The sophomore recorded nine saves in each match while allowing one goal on the weekend. First, against Meredith, Bourgeois took the loss despite allowing only one goal in 90:00 minutes of action. After making nine saves against Meredith, Bourgeois and the Tigers shutout N.C. Wesleyan in a double-overtime match. Overall, the sophomore keeper had a .045 GAA.

Bourgeois and the rest of the Tigers return to action Tuesday with the home opener against Maryville. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Puett Field. Following the matchup, the Purple and Gold travel to Nashville to take on NCAA Division II Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday evening.
