Meredith Downs Sewanee on Late Second Half Goal

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Sewanee women's soccer team was unable to stop Meredith's strikers, as the Avenging Angels scored an 87th minute goal to defeat the Tigers, 1-0, Friday afternoon at the Meredith Classic at Meredith Athletic Field.

Meredith (1-0) struck for 16 shots to Sewanee's (0-1) five in the contest.

Kirstie King tallied the lone score in the 87th minute (86:29) with a 20-yard shot to seal the victory.

Carly Levin tallied two shots to lead the Purple and Gold.

Samantha Bourgeois (0-1) saved nine shots in the contest.

Sewanee wraps up the Meredith Classic on Saturday afternoon with a neutral contest with N.C. Wesleyan. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT.
