2017 SEASON PREVIEW: Women's Soccer

RALEIGH, N.C. - The 2017 edition of Sewanee Women's Soccer will begin this weekend with the Meredith Classic, hosted by Meredith College.

The Tigers will take on host Meredith Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. CT, and the weekend will conclude with North Carolina Wesleyan Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. CT.

Coming off an 8-9-2 overall record and a 5-2 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) record, Patrick Johnston and the Tigers will look to replace nine seniors and 14 of the team's 27 goals in 2017.

The returner lead scorer with six goals is Savannah Williams. In 18 matches, the Chattanooga, Tenn. native recorded a .214 shooting percentage and finished with 12 points.

Kiley Ezzell and Erin Gill each tallied two goals last season for Sewanee. Ezzell, a New Orleans, La., finished with five points, and Gill, a Richmond, Va. native assisted with four goals last season for eight total points.

Returning in goal for the Tigers is Samantha Bourgeois, who allowed 1.62 goals against in almost 1,782 minutes logged. The New Orleans, La. native saved 81 shots.

The 2017 home opener for the Tigers will occur Tuesday night against Maryville (Tenn.). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
