Women’s Lacrosse Downed by Kenyon in Friday Contest

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's lacrosse team, despite a 5-5 halftime score, only scored once in the final 30 minutes as the Ladies of Kenyon College won the contest 11-6, Friday afternoon from a rainy Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers scored twice to start the game, with goals scored by Anna Comer on a free position and Mallory Bedell.

-Trailing 3-1, the Ladies scored three straight goals to take their first lead of the game.

-Sewanee rallied with two goals in nearly a minute, but Kenyon evened the score with 54 seconds left in the first half as the teams went into the locker room with an even score at five goals apiece.

-With 22:08 left in the contest, Comer gave Sewanee the 6-5 advantage, but from there, the Lords scored six straight goals to seal the contest.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Anna Comer and Sarah Strand scored two goals each.

-Strand also won four draw controls, while Comer caused three turnovers.

-Brianna Young (3-2) saved seven shots in full time.

KENYON KEY STATISTICS
-Cassie Hudson-Heck led the Ladies with four goals.

-Brett Bearrows and Avery Morgan each forced five turnovers.

-Carina Barnes (4-2) saved seven shots in between the pipes.
