SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's lacrosse team advanced to the semifinals of the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Tournament with a 20-3 first round victory over Berry from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers opened the contest with 5-0 start in the first 15:43 in the contest, as Sarah Strand laced a hat trick in a five-minute span.
-Sewanee got the contest to a running clock late in the first half.
-In the second half, three of Sewanee's eight goals were free position shots.
-Strand assisted on two goals as 10 Tigers helped on a goal in the win.
-Sommi won four draws, and Grace Fulton and Strand won three each.
-Sewanee went 5-of-9 on free position shots, 19-of-21 on clear attempts and turned the ball over nine times. On defense, the Tigers held the Vikings to nine shots
-Amanda Jenkins (6-1) saved three shots in 23 minutes for the Tigers.
BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Miranda Smith, Olivia Iobst and Shadae Williams each scored a goal for Berry.
-Ella Makin (4-10) saved 17 shots in 52 minutes in the cage.
With the victory, the Tigers will travel to Centre for the semifinals on Sunday.
