ATLANTA - Sewanee midfielder Kit Sommi collects the Southern Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week award, the conference office announced on Monday.
Sommi collected 12 draw controls over three matches this week for Sewanee. The senior also forced eight turnovers and scooped up 13 grounders.
Against Carthage, she forced four turnovers each in the contest. She also scooped up seven grounders and caused four pics against Transylvania.
To go with her defensive numbers, she also netted four goals.
On the year, the Knoxville, Tenn. native is third in the SAA in draw controls (31) and second in caused turnovers (20).
Sommi and the rest of the Tigers wrap up their four game homestand on Monday with a non-conference battle with the Titans of Illinois Wesleyan. Faceoff is slated for 6 p.m. from Puett Field.
