Tigers snap losing streak with 23-3 win at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA (March 22, 2014) – The Sewanee women's lacrosse team snapped its five-match losing streak with a strong 23-3 win over Oglethorpe Saturday at Oglethorpe Field.

The Tigers evened their overall record to 6-6. Sewanee is now 3-1 in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play.

Sewanee scored 13 goals in the first half and 10 in the second.

Overall, the Tigers outshot the Stormy Petrels 45-9 while winning the ground ball battle 20-4.

Individually, Brita Brudvig and Mallory Grimm each scored four goals. Wittney Reed and Sally Anne Greenwood both scored three times while Elsie Spencer and Chelsea Staunton fired in two goals.

Finally, Emily Hylton, Payton Fields, Eliza Havener, Katie Riddle and Ella Richardson also found the back of the net.

On defense, Alexis Crittenden, Janie Hannon, Katie Jannotta, Spencer, Eliza Chapman, and Dori Wilson all had caused turnovers. 

Sewanee continues league play with a 1:00 p.m. (EST) match at Berry, March 30.
