Symonds Tied for 37th After 18 Holes at NCAA Championships

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Junior golfer Meghan Symonds opened play at the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships on Tuesday afternoon from the Mission Inn Resort and Club.

Through 18 holes, Symonds finished in a tie for 37th with an eight-over, 81 opening round. Starting on the first tee, the Cary, N.C. native tallied eight pars and one birdie.

Competing as one of the six individualists in the Championships, Symonds will enter the second round on Wednesday eight strokes behind Charlotte Simpson of Carnegie Mellon (Pa.).

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) and Williams (Mass.) lead the field of 25 teams with identical 311 scores.

Symonds will continue play in the second round Wednesday afternoon with a 2:10 p.m. ET / 1:10 p.m. CT.
