Tigers remain in 10th after the third round of the NCAA Championship


HOUSTON (May 11, 2017) – Led by No. 39 ranked sophomore Meghan Symonds's third-round 76, the No. 26 ranked Sewanee women's golf team currently sits in 10th place after round three of the NCAA Championship at Bay Oaks Country Club.

The Tigers improved by five strokes as a team and now sit with a 959 total. No. 1 ranked George Fox leads the field with a 903. Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival and defending champion Rhodes is second, four strokes behind George Fox. No. 2 ranked Williams is currently third with a 914 while No. 6 ranked Wittenberg is fourth only 14 strokes off the lead.

Individually, No. 34 ranked Nikki Isaacson of Rhodes and No. 6 ranked Christina Herbert of Bridgewater lead a tight leaderboard with three-over par 219s.

Behind Symonds, who sits in 24th with a 232 total, Natalie Javadi is 10 strokes back after her third-round 80. Javadi has a three-round total of 242 and is currently tied for 46th.

Sophomore Sophia Morrill is tied for 53rd after she shot an 80 (245 total), Thursday.

Classmate Sarah Battye finished with a third-round 85 while freshman Mary Elizabeth Benton fired her lowest round of the tournament, a 75. Both Battye and Benton sit with scores of 247 and are tied for 60th.

Final round action of the four-day event will start at 7:45 a.m. (CST), Friday.
