Symonds leads SAA Tournament after first round; Tigers in second

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 21, 2017) – Led by Meghan Symonds, the Sewanee women's golf team got off to an outstanding start at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championship, Friday.

Symonds leads a ranked and talented field with an opening-round 74. As a team, Sewanee is currently second after an opening-round 324. The Tigers trail only Centre, who leads the field with a 323. The Colonels have two players in the top-three behind Symonds.

Along with Symonds, Sarah Battye is in the top-10 after her opening-round 82. Battye finished with one birdie and is tied for eighth.

Sophia Morrill and Natalie Javadi are both tied for 12th with 84s while Mary Elizabeth Benton fired an 89 and is currently tied for 26th.
