No. 28 Sewanee falls to ninth at Washington University Spring Invitational

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (April 9, 2017) – The No. 28 Sewanee women's golf team could not maintain its momentum in the final round as the Tigers dropped to ninth during at Washington University Spring Invitational.

No. 4 Rhodes won the team title with a 37-over par 597. The Tigers, who fired a 320 on Saturday, finished with a 646 total. No. 33 Gustavus Adolphus finished second at 624 while No. 17 DePauw was third with a 625.

Meghan Symonds led Sewanee with a 155 total. After a 78 during the first round, Symonds improved by one stroke to finish tied for 14th.

Natalie Javadi stayed consistent with her second straight 80 on Sunday. Javadi finished in 28th with a 160 total.

Mary Elizabeth Benton tied for 45th after her two-day 164 (77-87) while Sophia Morrill improved by two strokes in the final round for 54th place. Morrill finished wit ha 168 total.

Sewanee returns to action in two weeks at the SAA Championships in Maumelle, Ark.
