Three players shoot under 80 as Tigers tied for third at Washington University Spring Invitational

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (April 8, 2017) – Led by great opening rounds from Mary Elizabeth Benton, Meghan Symonds, and Sarah Battye, the Sewanee women's golf team got off to a strong start during the first round of the Washington University Spring Invitational.

As a team, Sewanee fired a 314 total. The Tigers are tied with Wittenberg while Gustavus Adolphus and Rhodes sit in first and second.

Individually, Mackenzie Cohen leads the field with a first-round 70. Benton was the top Tiger on the day with a first-round 77. She is currently tied for 12th.

Symonds is only a stroke behind Benton and is tied for 15th while Battye opened with a 79 and is tied for 22nd. A stroke behind Battye is Natalie Javadi, who is tied for 26th while Sophia Morrill is tied for 52nd with an opening-round 85.
