SANDESTIN, Fla. (Oct. 9, 2016) – Led by Meghan Symonds, the Sewanee women's golf team is in 16th after the first round of the elite Golfweek Fall Invitational being played at the Baytowne Golf Club.
As a team, Sewanee finished Sunday with a 343 total, 29 strokes behind leader Mary-Hardin Baylor. Methodist and Wittenberg are tied for second at 316 while rival Rhodes and Texas-Tyler are both tied for fourth after their first-round 320.
Individually, Jane Hopkinson-Wood of Wittenberg leads the field after a first-round 72. In fact, Hopkinson-Wood was the only player at par or better.
Symonds, who is tied for 24th after an opening-round 81, leads Sewanee. Natalie Javadi is tied for 59th after her first-round 86 while Mary Elizabeth Benton is tied for 66th after she finished with an 87.
