MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Sept. 26, 2016) – The Sewanee women's golf team finished in fifth place Tuesday at the MCC Women's Intercollegiate played at Montgomery Country Club.
After opening with a 317 on Monday, the Tigers finished Tuesday with a 320. Sewanee's overall 636 total was just behind Trinity (634) and Berry (624). Rhodes won the event with a 603 while Huntingdon was second at 620.
Individually, Meghan Symonds finished tied for 11th place after she finished with a two-day 156 (77-79). Teammate Mary Elizabeth Benton was only a shot behind Symonds (79-78) and finished in a tie for 16th while Sarah Battye was tied for 25th after her 160 total (81-79).
Sophie Morrill improved by five strokes on Tuesday to finish with a 171 total. She was tied with Caroline Cole, who also finished 52nd.
Mackenzie Cohen of Rhodes earned medalist honors with a final score of 144 (71-73).
Sewanee returns to action at the Golfweek Fall Preview in Sandestin, Fla., October 9-11th.
