Symonds leads Sewanee during first round of MCC Women’s Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (Sept. 25, 2016)  Led by sophomore Meghan Symonds, the Sewanee women's golf team is tied for fifth place after the first round of the MCC Women's Intercollegiate.

As a team, Sewanee fired a 317 total on the Montgomery Country Club course. The Tigers are tied with fellow SAA member Berry while rival Rhodes leads the field with a 306.

Individually, Symonds opened with a first-round 77 and is tied for fourth place. Freshman Mary Elizabeth Benton is tied for 15th after her 79 while Caroline Cole is tied for 20th a shot back from her teammate.

Sarah Battye opened with a first-round 81 and is tied for 27th while Sophie Morrill sits in 55th after her opening 18-hole 88.
