Javadi and No. 10 Tigers lead prestigious GolfWeek Fall Invitational

MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 11, 2015) – In a tournament that features seven of the top-20 teams in NCAA Division III Women's Golf, the Sewanee women's golf team leads the prestigious field with a first-day 309 at GolfWeek Fall Invitational at the Baytowne Golf Club.

Sewanee sits three strokes ahead of Washington University, who fired a 312. Texas Tyler is third with a 315. The nearest SAA member is Berry, who is 12th after a 337.

Individually, Sewanee senior Emily Javadi is dominating some of the best players in the nation. Javadi is the only player with a sub-par round after she finished with a three-under 69. Laura Lindsey and Morgan Loth, both of Texas Tyler, trail by five strokes with 74s.

A big key for Javadi was her ability to dominate the Par-3s. Javadi was three-under with an average score of 2.40. She also leads the field in Par-4 scoring at one-under.

Along with Javadi, fellow senior Alison Eleey is inside the top-10 with a first-round 78. She is followed by freshmen Meghan Symonds and Sophia Morrill, who both are tied for 22nd.

Freshman Sarah Battye rounded out the individual scores with an 18-hole 85. She is currently tied for 50th.
