SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee women's basketball team dropped a 62-55 decision to the hands of LaGrange College Wednesday afternoon inside Juhan Gymnasium. This was the final non-conference contest of the season for the Purple and Gold.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The teams were neck-and-neck through the first five minutes of the contest, but, after Sue Kim made a layup to cut an early deficit to one, 7-6, the Panthers went on an 11-3 run to make in a nine-point game with two minutes left in the opening quarter.
-Looking for a spark, the Tigers found it in the second quarter. Training 21-13 entering the period, the Purple and Gold went on a 10-0 run to retake the lead, 23-21 before LaGrange burned a timeout with 8:21 left in the half.
-That quarter, Sewanee outscored LaGrange 18-7 to take a 30-29 lead into the halftime break.
-The Panthers responded in the third quarter. Trailing 34-31, the visitors went on a 6-2 run to regain the lead, 39-36 with 3:41 left in the period.
-LaGrange extended their lead to five as the fourth quarter began, 45-40. The Tigers attempted to chip away at the lead, but the Panthers, who went 20-of-28 from the free throw line in the contest, went 9-of-11 in the final 10 minutes.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Bella Taylor led all Sewanee scorers with 14 points and added six rebounds.
LAGRANGE KEY STATISTICS
-Marilauren Farr recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Panthers.
The Tigers will next step back into conference play, but it will be away from the Domain. Sewanee will travel to Berry Friday night before wrapping the first half of its four-game road swing with Oglethorpe Sunday.
