Women's Basketball Stumbles in Road Matchup with Berea

BEREA, Ky. - The Sewanee women's basketball team suffered a 76-63 road loss to Berea on Tuesday night, despite having three ladies score double digits.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Berea used a 35-30 first half thanks to a 48 percent (13-of-27) performance from the field.

-Sewanee cut the deficit from 10 points to five thanks to a 17-12 second quarter.

-In the second half, Berea used a 22-15 third quarter to ice the contest, despite the Tigers getting the deficit down to as low as 10 points late in the contest.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Bella Taylor, on 10-of-20 shooting and 7-of-7 from the charity stripe, scored 28 points to lead all scorers. The junior is now one point shy of 1,000 in her career, which would make her the 13th women's basketball player all-time to accomplish the feat.

-Sue Kim collected 13 points for the Tigers, while allison Hitchcock scored 12.

BEREA KEY STATISTICS
-Adriana Williams led Berea with 19 points, while Bri Lanham scored 15 and grabbed 14 boards for the winners.

UP NEXT
Sewanee will resume play after Christmas, hosting the Sewanee Holiday Classic. The Tigers will host Wooster, Centre and Covenant in the two-day event. The Classic will begin on Friday, Dec. 29, when Sewanee hosts Wooster at 5 p.m.
