"I am very excited to be joining the Sewanee softball program in a new capacity as the assistant coach. I believe my experience as a student-athlete at the university will be an asset in recruiting and helping to build a strong program with coach Yackey. We are very fortunate to have coach Yackey on the Mountain and I look forward to supporting him and working with the team."
Thibodeaux is a 2014 graduate of the University of the South and lettered for the Tigers from 2012-14. As a pitcher and utility player, Thibodeaux finished her career with 59 career strikeouts and five wins.
At the plate, Thibodeaux closed her career with 30 hits, 16 runs, eight doubles, and 11 RBI.
"We are excited to have Michelle join our program as the new assistant coach, " said head coach Merritt Yackey. "In addition to being a four-year student-athlete and alumna of Sewanee, she brings a strong desire and passion to re-energize the program. Her great character will enable her to be a strong mentor and leader for our student-athletes."
