CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Sewanee softball opened the 2018 Southern Athletic Association Softball Tournament on Thursday with a 4-0 defeat to two-seed Birmingham-Southern.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Panthers got three runs to start the contest before added a run in the bottom half of the fourth.

-The Tigers only laced three singles in the contest.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Katie Roth, Caroline Sweetin and Taylor Wagner each recorded a hit in the contest.

-Sweetin (0-11) allowed three earned in the first inning.

BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN KEY STATISTICS
-Savannah Lee recorded two hits and an RBI in the opening game of the SAA Tournament.

-Jessica Perley (5-7) allowed two hits in five shutout innings.
