CLERMONT, Fla. - Sewanee softball earned a split of Saturday's action, falling to Elmhurst, 16-5, before winning against Farmingdale State, 6-5, to open action at The Spring Games.

HOW IT HAPPENED, ELMHURST
-The Blue Jays got on the board with two runs in the top of the first inning on two RBI singles.
-In the bottom half of the opening frame, the Tigers responded by taking a 3-2 lead. With runners on second and third, Caroline Sweetin drove in two runs on a double.
-The next batter, Charlsey Shirey, followed suit with an RBI single to bring home Sweetin.
-The lead would be short-lived, however, as the Blue Jays scored 14 unanswered runs in the next two innings to lead 16-3.
-Sewanee added two runs in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a Taylor Wagner double.
-Sweetin and Wagner each drove in two runs.
-Jackie O'Reilly (3-7) started for Sewanee and allowed nine runs in one inning plus seven batters.
ELMHURST KEY STATISTICS
-Stephanie Sturino went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBI and three runs scored.
-Stefania Passarelli (1-0) sealed the win for the Blue Jays, allowing four earned runs on eight hits in five innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED, FARMINGDALE STATE
-The Tigers started their second game of the day with a three-run first inning.
-The Rams answered with a run in the bottom of the second, but the Tigers got the run back and then some with a two-run third, leading 5-1 through three innings.
-With Sewanee leading 6-2 headed into the bottom of the seventh, Farmingdale State scored three runs in the frame to make it a 6-5 contest, but the Tigers shut down the offense of their opponent, getting the next two outs and leaving the tying run in scoring position.
-Jackie O'Reilly (4-7) pitched 6.2 innings of ball, allowed two unearned runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
FARMINGDALE STATE KEY STATISTICS
-Haley Schmeiser scored two RBI for the Rams.
-Jaxie Collard (0-1) allowed three earned runs on nine hits and two walks in five innings of work in the circle.
The Tigers will continue play at The Spring Games on Sunday with contests against St. Lawrence and Hamilton.
