ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association announced on Monday that freshman softball utility player Jackie O'Reilly has been named the SAA Softball Player of the Week after her performance on the diamond last week.
O'Reilly helped the Tigers to a walkoff win in game two of Sewanee's series with Centre. In the circle, she pitched a complete game, allowed three runs and punched out four batters.
At the plate, she recorded a 4-for-4 day with a homer and a double with two RBI and three runs scored, including the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
On the week, she compiled a .500 batting average (8-of-16), a .529 on-base percentage and an 1.125 slugging percentage with three dingers, seven RBI and five runs scored. In the circle, she pitched 22.2 innings, allowed 15 earned runs and fanned 12 batters.
O'Reilly and the rest of the Tigers will kick off spring break on Thursday with a home doubleheader with Blackburn (Ill.). First pitch from the Tiger Softball Field is slated for noon.
